Australia has changed its immigration system for visa applicants to attract more skilled workers and international students. The changes include making it easier to become a permanent resident and raising the income threshold for temporary skilled workers.

- Visa Application Charges
Starting from July 1st, 2023, visa application charges will increase between 6% and 40% for most visa categories. - Student Visa Work Limitations
Starting from July 1st, most Student Visa holders will be allowed to work a maximum of 48 hours per fortnight. - Post-Study Work Rights
Temporary Graduate Visa holders with select degrees can work for an additional 2 years. Eligible foreign students who study, live, and work in regional parts of Australia will also get an additional 1 to 2 years of work rights.
Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) The income threshold for temporary skilled workers has been raised to $70,000 from $53,900 to attract more skilled workers to Australia.

Australia has increased its annual immigration target from 160,000 to 190,000 from its migration system. Around 70% of the places will be allocated to skilled migrants in the 2023-2024 permanent migration program.
